Project ECHO (Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes) at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is pleased to announce a new cohort of their statewide training on opioid addiction treatment for CHWs & PSWs. The goal of the program is to expand access and improve outcomes of treatment for addiction by training and mentoring the public health workforce - community health workers, peer support specialists and health educators – to provide clinical and social support, health education, and appropriate referrals for patients in recovery or seeking treatment for substance use disorders, with a focus on opioid use disorder.

The program is free to all participants. Participants MUST commit to incorporating knowledge and skills from the training into their work. Those who successfully finish the program will receive NMDOH certified CHW CEUs (up to 12 hours). These credits count toward recertification for CPSWs as well. As with all Project ECHO programs, research and evaluation data will be collected and analyzed as part of the program's mission.

Participation in all 12 ECHO sessions, Thursdays March 7 to May 23 from 1:30 pm-2:30 pm.
You must connect via the Zoom teleconferencing platform using a laptop or smartphone.
Opportunity to present one real, de-identified patient/client case. You will also have the option to re-present on this same client during the second half of the program.
You must complete post-session surveys after each clinic, to ensure the program is meeting your needs.
You must give prior written notice of any absence before the start of the ECHO session. Two unexcused absences will result in being dropped from the program.

You will need a quiet place set aside for the 1-hour ECHO session every week. The software for connecting to the ECHO session (Zoom) is free for use. The participant or their organization is responsible for providing a computer system, tablet or smart phone that meets the system requirements listed here: System Requirements
